Pick of the Pix Series, Trials Downward Kicks

Specs: 1/160s, 85.0mm prime, f/3.5, ISO: 1250

Michael Davis executes a nice downward kick during the World Champs Trials.

He's nicely in focus (see the detail in his hair) yet the shutter speed is slow enough to capture a little movement in his sparring partner's head (which must be moving very fast to blur at 1/160th of a second)! I'm lucky to have captured it at such a dynamic angle for the kick plus it is showing Michael's face and eyes. The background is not too bad either, nicely out of focus.

The following two images also show nice kicks but the angle of view doesn't do them the justice they deserve. Notice how high Mark Trotter's leg is in the image on the left. The image on the right shows Shane Black in mid-flight.

The image of Chris Broughton executing a downward kick is interesting because it is in close and you can see his eye through the gap.
